From award-nominated Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author, Patrick Rothfuss. THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS is a must-read novella set in Pat Rothfuss’s extraordinary Kingkiller Universe.
With his first two Kingkiller novels, THE NAME OF THE WIND and THE WISE MAN’S FEAR, Patrick Rothfuss created the most exciting, and exceptionally commercial, fantasy world since George R. R. Martin’s A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.

An enchanting new novella, THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS focuses on one of the most beloved and enigmatic characters from the Kingkiller world. Her name is Auri and she is full of mysteries.

THE SLOW REGARD OF SILENT THINGS is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all of her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes, and it gives the reader a chance to learn things only Auri knows…

Full of secrets and mysteries, THE SLOW ERGARD OF SILENT THINGS is the story of a broken girl, trying to live in a broken world.

Patrick Rothfuss had the good fortune to be born in Wisconsin in 1973, where the long winters and lack of cable television encouraged a love of reading and writing. After abandoning his chosen field of chemical engineering, Pat became an itinerant student, wandering through clinical psychology, philosophy, medieval history, theatre and sociology. Nine years later, Pat was forced by university policy finally to complete his undergraduate degree in English.  When not reading and writing, he teaches fencing and dabbles with alchemy in his basement. @PatrickRothfuss has 28,500 followers on twitter, and a strong website and blog at He also established and runs the charity Worldbuilders:
