If you’re a huge Star Wars fan like myself, you no doubt have a massive collection of Star Wars films, books, and toys and as the Star Wars universe grows so do the books and reference material that goes along with it. Sometimes it can be a huge challenge to find out what books fits where in the timeline. Well worry no longer. Star Wars: The Essential Reader’s Companion by Pablo Hidalgo and Published by Titan Books is your one stop shop to all things Star Wars. This books packs over 485 pages of information to get you back on track.

As you would expect from anything the Star Wars franchise produces, it looks great. The cover is of Yoda sitting on a pile of books in his home on Dagobah surrounded by loads of Star Wars Books, this really should give you a clue to what the book contains. The book is broken up into 7 chapters and that in itself is a time line starting from the Ancient Jedi and Sith and then it carries on through the life and times of Star Wars. I do think however, for those fans that have been following the Star Wars universe already and know how the time and how all the characters fit into the story, this may potentially be a bit of a waste of money. However, after going through the book it also occurred to me that as a long standing fan myself, I still loved what this book contained.

Looking at the book from a newbie point of view to the Star Wars universe, it can be a very daunting task. There are so many storylines dotted all over the place that you will be hard pressed to find a good starting point. This book will help you with that. Let’s say for instance you want to start reading all about the Clone wars; what this book does is list all the books that are a part of the Clone war storyline. It even gives you a summary about the story, and then it lists the author, cover artist, publication history and many other bits of useful information.

As you go through the book, along with the amazing amount of information, you get great art work as well as you would expect from any good Star Wars book and the standard of art is just as good as the standard of information that is given to you.

Overall Star Wars: The Essential Reader’s Companion is a great book. It is really what is need for anyone who is a fan of the Star Wars universe and just wants to add yet another book to their collection or for those of us who enjoy reading the Star Wars books and just want to know what books carry the storyline you are following. A really good read and a must for those of you who love all things Star Wars.
