Batman Knightfall is a fantastic collection of already released comics in a graphic novel style book.

The titles included in the collection are Batman: Vengeance of Bane special #1, Batman 491-500, Detective comics 659-666, showcase ‘ 93 7-8 and Batman shadows of the bat 16-18.

I will give you a glimpse of who to expect to see but not to much detail as i don’t want to spoil your read.
With all of Batman’s greatest enemies escaping Arkham Asylum at the same time batman is going to have the fight of his life, quite literally, as he has to defend Gotham against them all. With his toughest challenge awaiting him at the end and the brains behind it all Bane. Batman fights valiantly.

The collection starts with vengeance of Bane, this is my favourite story in the collection I thoroughly enjoyed this one as it explains how Bane came to be the villain we all know and love . Starting with his birth in Pena duro prison serving his fathers life sentence, he starts out his life as any ordinary baby would but due to his mistreatment during his many years there growing up you can see how it shaped him both mentally and physically into the Bane of today. This is a very good story to read, a great introduction to the villain featured in ” The dark knight rises.” the new Batman movie.

Batman 491- 500 sees Batman and Robin face off in true comic book style against Bane, The Mad Hatter, killer croc, The Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and The Joker. Chaos reigns in Gotham as usual and Batman and Robin have there hands very full with this never ending barrage of villain’s. The artists have done a great job when creating both hero’s and villains in traditional DC style.

Detective comics 659-666 Batman takes on The Riddler, Firefly, Bane, The Joker, Scarecrow and Two Face. Batman’s every trusted side kick Robin is there as always to back up the bat as he endless battles all of the super villains to keep the people of Gotham city safe.
The art work as always with DC Comics is fantastic, with a great depth of colour and detail to both the villain’s and Batman.

Shadow of the bat 16-18, Batman sees the streets of Gotham descend into anarchy when he faces Scarecrow and Anarky. although this is a relatively small section it has some of the best artwork in it. The artist has created a very menacing Scarecrow!

Batman has the unenviable task of facing each of the villains above one by one as they all seek to destroy him and rule Gotham city.

I would definitely recommend this collection as it brings together some brilliant story’s, and artwork that is synonymous with Batman and DC comics. As it all comes together in one book it makes it much easier to store on your book case . Any fan of Batman should buy this. I hope they release some more in this style collection.
